The client already had a strong Google My Business (GMB) presence with good customer reviews, but no previous Google Ads campaigns.

 

Challenges

  • New Ad Account: No historical data or conversion tracking

  • Low Client Knowledge: Owner had minimal understanding of Google Ads

  • Limited Starting Budget: Needed smart allocation without wasting clicks

Strategy & Execution

I started with a clear and structured Google Ads strategy:

  1. Initial Focus on Store Visits & Search Campaigns

    • Campaign Objective: Store visits

    • Targeting: High-intent keywords like “best Japanese restaurant near me” and dish-specific searches like “Wagyu sushi in Dubai”

    • Ad Group Structuring: Grouped keywords by intent and category (e.g., nearby restaurants, popular menu items)

  2. Optimized Ad Copy & Extensions

    • Highlighted 5-star GMB ratings, location benefits, and popular dishes

    • Used sitelinks, call buttons, and location extensions

  3. Progressive Shift to Performance Max (PMax) Campaigns

    • After gathering initial conversions, I launched PMax to scale further

Used a shared budget portfolio with conversion-based bidding to balance performance across campaigns

Results (Apr 23 – May 8, 2025)

  • CTR on Search Campaigns: Up to 8.33%

As seen in the performance graph, the cost per conversion dropped consistently as campaigns optimized themselves and started attracting more relevant traffic.
